Why Psychotherapy and Counselling?
There are many different forms of psychotherapy and counselling. What they all have in common is the goal of helping people through emotional distress and improving their quality of life.
At the core of this way of working is a respect for the unique life experiences that each person brings with them and an honouring of their value as a human being.
Sessions offer an environment in which you can express your feelings and gain a deeper insight into the issues that you are facing. Psychotherapy sessions are confidential, and working within a relational context can encourage a co-created dialogue to help you to talk about and explore things which you might not feel comfortable discussing with anyone else. The aim is to help you find better ways to cope, or to bring about changes in the way you think, feel and behave that will improve your mental and emotional wellbeing.
Psychotherapy can be long term and open ended or time limited, this is a personal decision and we can work together on deciding what best suits your needs. I offer psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment within a small private practice in Central Bath:

The terms psychotherapy and counselling are often used interchangeably, although there are differences in training methods and theoretical approaches. In general terms; psychotherapy tends to be longer term and has the potential to go into greater depth. It allows for an exploration of how past experiences and issues affect our relationships, emotions and behaviours in the present. Counselling can be helpful for those wishing to address a more recent or specific issue and have a need or wish to make changes.
